2022 Egyptian Liveaboard Trip
We have limited spaces left on our 2022 liveaboard trip to the Red Sea onboard Blue 0 Two’s M/Y Blue Horizon Project Shark: Simply The Best. Departing May 2nd 2022
Upgraded in early 2016, award-winning M/Y Blue Horizon is the flagship fleet vessel and the benchmark for all other Blue O Two vessels to follow.
With a contemporary and stylish feel, M/Y Blue Horizon takes Red Sea liveaboard diving to a whole new level and is truly deserving of the title ‘Best Liveaboard’ in the 2016 and 2015 Sport Diver awards, as well as ‘Liveaboard of the Year’ awarded by DIVER magazine in their recent industry awards.
With a large dining area, totally separate sky lounge with state of the art entertainment system, shaded deck area and sun deck, there is always space to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Red Sea. TVs in the communal areas are also equipped with a hard drive containing movies and TV series.
King suite upgrades are available and all cabins benefit from air conditioning, en suite facilities, mini-refrigerators and personal entertainment systems.
M/Y Blue Horizon is equipped with a nitrox membrane and can also cater for rebreather and technical divers.
The aim of ‘Project Shark’ is to highlight the global issues facing sharks, with a Red Sea focus, as well as enjoying some of the most spectacular reefs that the Red Sea has to offer.
This itinerary combines the spectacular drop-offs and big pelagics at Daedalus with the stunning variety of St Johns. There is a reef for everyone and the opportunity to dive some of the most beautiful sites in the Red Sea.
Learn about the biology and behaviour of sharks within the Red Sea with nightly lectures from a representative of the “Red Sea Sharks” trust.
Founded by expert dive guide and marine biologist, Elke Bojanowski PhD, in her quest to track and collect basic population data on oceanic whitetip sharks (Carcharhinus Longimanus), in the Egyptian Red Sea.
Elke began the Longimanus Project in October 2004 and since this date, she has been actively collecting underwater photographs and video clips of Oceanic Whitetip Sharks for catalogue, review and analysis.
Since 2012 the project has expanded to become Red Sea Sharks (www.redseasharks.org) and increased its scope to include Grey Reef and Silky Shark catalogues and monitoring for many sharks
Day 1
Visit a dive site local to Port Ghalib for a check dive before heading south for your afternoon and night dive on the way to St Johns.
Day 2
Explore St Johns.
Day 3
Morning in St Johns before travelling north to dive in the area of Cave Reef before continuing towards Fury Shoal.
Day 4
A relaxing day of beautiful reef diving in Fury Shoal.
Day 5
Visit the famous Daedalus Reef and hope to encounter some large pelagics.
Day 6
After an early morning dive at Elphinstone, enjoy a relaxed dive local to Port Ghalib allowing you to cruise into harbour in the early afternoon. Take advantage of an evening onshore to purchase souvenirs and enjoy Egypt’s famous hospitality before your journey home the next day
